Send-Hardcopy-Document: Since we cannot imagine the usage, we do not understand why this operation = MUST be supported. So could you tell us the use case of the Send-Hardcopy-Document operation? If this operation is NOT critical for IPP FaxOut, we suggest to change it t= o be "optional" for implementing easily. 2. destination-statuses: We want to clarify which transmission status value should be specified in t= he "destination-statuses" when a multiple destination job is canceled. Details are described below, but we think it is slightly unclear. "4.1.3 Job Terminating State "The terminating state of an IPP FaxOut Job reflects the absolute final dis= position of the Job. Jobs in the =1B$B!F=1B(Bcanceled=1B$B!G=1B(B state wer= e canceled by a User using the Cancel-Job, Cancel-Jobs, or Cancel-My-Jobs o= perations, regardless of whether any or all of the Job has been processed o= r partially transferred to its destination URI(s). The =1B$B!H=1B(Bdestinat= ion-statuses=1B$B!I=1B(B Job Description attribute (section 7.3.1) provides= detailed information regarding the progress of the job prior to cancellati= on." For example, the job has 5 destinations. The job is canceled when the device is transfering fax document to 3rd dest= ination. 1. completed 2. completed 3. transfering <- The job is canceled in the middle of here 4. wait 5. w= ait Are the "job-state" and the "destination-statuses" the following? job-state: canceled destination-statuses: 1. completed 2. completed 3. processing 4. pending 5. pending OR job-state: canceled destination-statuses: 1. completed 2. completed 3. canceled 4. canceled 5. canceled Which is correct? Should we be > considering that? Not that it is a common use case, but there *are* existing mobile solutions that make a phone, when running an application, look like an IPP Printer. Conceptually you *could* also make a phone look like a scanner or fax device. But such solutions have some serious usability issues, such as not always being able to "print" from one application to the IPP Printer application on the same device due to memory/resource constraints. If we *did* want to consider these "virtual printer" applications, I would focus on network accessibility and how to deal with an application/service that has been stopped due to temporary resource constraints. This would have particular significance for cloud-based solutions, and point to some potential solutions ("wake up" notifications that cause the service to restart automatically...) _________________________________________________________ Michael Sweet, Senior Printing System Engineer, PWG Chair -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ ipp mailing list ipp@pwg.org https://www.pwg.org/mailman/listinfo/ipp From pwg-announce-bounces@pwg.org Wed Apr 17 12:00:13 2013 Return-Path: X-Original-To: ietfarch-ipp-archive@ietfa.amsl.com Delivered-To: ietfarch-ipp-archive@ietfa.amsl.com Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by ietfa.amsl.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1006A21E8085 for ; Wed, 17 Apr 2013 12:00:13 -0700 (PDT) X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at amsl.com X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: -102.599 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-102.599 tagged_above=-999 required=5 tests=[AWL=0.000, BAYES_00=-2.599, USER_IN_WHITELIST=-100] Received: from mail.ietf.org ([12.22.58.30]) by localhost (ietfa.amsl.com [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id MPdarMUg5dts for ; Wed, 17 Apr 2013 12:00:11 -0700 (PDT) Received: from pwg.org (pwg.org [192.146.101.49]) by ietfa.amsl.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5442D21E809D for ; Wed, 17 Apr 2013 12:00:11 -0700 (PDT) Received: from pwg.org (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by pwg.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EF768791E3; Wed, 17 Apr 2013 14:59:50 -0400 (EDT) X-Original-To: pwg-announce@pwg.org Delivered-To: pwg-announce@pwg.org Received: from mail-out.apple.com (honeycrisp.apple.com [17.151.62.51]) by pwg.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 36F2F791DE for ; Wed, 17 Apr 2013 14:59:35 -0400 (EDT) MIME-version: 1.0 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII Received: from relay2.apple.com ([17.128.113.67]) by mail-out.apple.com (Oracle Communications Messaging Server 7u4-23.01 (7.0.4.23.0) 64bit (built Aug 10 2011)) with ESMTP id <0MLE00D9YY2AOF00@mail-out.apple.com> for pwg-announce@pwg.org; Wed, 17 Apr 2013 11:59:34 -0700 (PDT) X-AuditID: 11807143-b7f856d000000818-de-516ef11528ef Received: from [17.153.100.65] (Unknown_Domain [17.153.100.65]) (using TLS with cipher AES128-SHA (128/128 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by relay2.apple.com (Apple SCV relay) with SMTP id EF.5A.02072.611FE615; Wed, 17 Apr 2013 11:59:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Michael Sweet Date: Wed, 17 Apr 2013 14:59:33 -0400 To: "PWG Announcements Inc." I suppose there is some room for interpretation here, and I will clarify in the next update of FaxOut. The intent is to see whether sending of the job to a particular destination was completed, canceled, or aborted (i.e. what was the terminating state of the destination) to allow the client to resubmit the job at a later time as needed, but only using those destinations that did not already receive the job completely. > > Regards, > > O'Hara > > -----Original Message----- > From: ipp-bounces@pwg.org [mailto:ipp-bounces@pwg.org] On Behalf Of Michael Sweet > Sent: Thursday, April 18, 2013 1:21 AM > To: Matsuda, Munehisa (BIL-SDEV1) 松田 宗久 > Cc: ipp@pwg.org > Subject: Re: [IPP] Questions for the stable draft of IPP FaxOut > > Hi, > > On 2013-04-17, at 4:24 AM, munehisa.matsuda@brother.co.jp wrote: >> Dear all, >> >> We have two questions regarding the stable draft of IPP FaxOut. >> >> 1.
