While that worked without problems my browser managed to crash my box with the resulting 2 MB html diff. No issue with an abdiff or hwdiff. After that I tested two other tricks: Removing http://tools.ietf.org/id/ for "local" (your POV) drafts ran into problems on your side, you probably got an error log somewhere. The second test was to remove ...-02.txt from a "local" I-D draft-carpenter-rescind-3683-02.txt (as an example): is okay, this automatically finds the last ...-02.txt But it failed as rfcdiff?url2= value. This could be a nice feature if open lists or WGs discuss "official" I-Ds, and need a diff between "this" (the last) and the prior version. The diff-URL (e.g. a tiny URL) would be constant for "official" (= "local") I-Ds. Just an idea, maybe it's bogus, for LTRU we often talk about "private" versions (editor's copy + predecessor). I've added a simple url2-form below, maybe you can use it on the rfcdiff page. If so, what is the URL? Yup, it's up now: http://tools.ietf.org/agenda/67/calendar I haven't added any new features yet -- hope to make it remember your choices so you can easily come back and modify them and get a new URL to subscribe to, but will have to see if I can find the time for that. (1) The ADs apparently have a clear view of the current ballot for a document. The public view does not, however, and as a "shepherd" I find it pretty painful to figure out who has an outstanding "discuss" against a document. It would be very nice if the public view listed the current ballot state. (2) It would also be nice if when a new ID is posted updating a document in review by the IESG, a tickler was automatically sent to the ADs that hold "discuss" ballots. As a "shepherd", I can and do do that, but see previous comment. It seems to me that the tool should be able to infer that when the new ID goes in the authors think they have dealt with all issues and are looking for further feedback. _______________________________________________ Tools-discuss mailing list Tools-discuss@ietf.org https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/tools-discuss From tools-discuss-bounces@ietf.org Tue Oct 17 02:29:59 2006 Received: from [127.0.0.1] (helo=stiedprmman1.va.neustar.com) by megatron.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1GZiSd-0006rj-FY; Tue, 17 Oct 2006 02:29:59 -0400 Received: from [10.91.34.44] (helo=ietf-mx.ietf.org) by megatron.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1GZiR5-0006BO-US for tools-discuss@ietf.org; Tue, 17 Oct 2006 02:28:24 -0400 Received: from eunet-gw.ipv6.netcore.fi ([2001:670:86:3001::1] helo=netcore.fi) by ietf-mx.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1GZiKN-0002aL-P3 for tools-discuss@ietf.org; Tue, 17 Oct 2006 02:21:28 -0400 Received: from localhost (pekkas@localhost) by netcore.fi (8.12.11.20060614/8.12.11) with ESMTP id k9H6LJuN024211; Tue, 17 Oct 2006 09:21:19 +0300 Date: Tue, 17 Oct 2006 09:21:19 +0300 (EEST) From: Pekka Savola To: Fred Baker Subject: Re: [Tools-discuss] pinging "discuss" ADs In-Reply-To: Message-ID: References: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV 0.88.4/2038/Tue Oct 17 01:48:19 2006 on otso.netcore.fi X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Spam-Status: No, score=-1.0 required=5.0 tests=AWL, BAYES_50, NO_RELAYS autolearn=ham version=3.1.4 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.1.4 (2006-07-25) on otso.netcore.fi X-Spam-Score: -2.8 (--) X-Scan-Signature: a7d6aff76b15f3f56fcb94490e1052e4 Cc: IETF TOOLS discussion X-BeenThere: tools-discuss@ietf.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: IETF Tools Discussion List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: tools-discuss-bounces@ietf.org On Tue, 17 Oct 2006, Fred Baker wrote: > (1) The ADs apparently have a clear view of the current ballot for a > document. It would be very nice if the public > view listed the current ballot state. It does (at least I think so) but it may be a bit tricky to find. For example this is how I do it: 1) Point the web browser to datatracker.ietf.org 2) Enter a search term for a document or a set of docs 3) Click 'detail' on a selected one. 4a) From the comment log, you can see the recent changes. 4b) From 'IESG evaluation record' you can see the current status. "." under Discuss means it has had a discuss, but it has moved to some other state (where the 'X' is at the moment). >From there you can also see the RFC editor notes, IESG notes, etc. -- i.e., the RFC approval message that will be sent to the IETF-announce list. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a direct link to the IESG evaluation record from 3). > (2) It would also be nice if when a new ID is posted updating a document in > review by the IESG, a tickler was automatically sent to the ADs that hold > "discuss" ballots. I agree with you here, but note that a new I-D does not _necessarily_ always incorporate all the comments to the satisfaction of the shepherd and in some cases, not even from the authors' point of view -- if they want to address easy ones first and defer more difficult ones to, e.g., after an IETF meeting. -- Pekka Savola "You each name yourselves king, yet the Netcore Oy kingdom bleeds." Go to the Detail View page for a draft, e.g. https://datatracker.ietf.org/public/pidtracker.cgi?command=view_id&dTag=13036&rfc_flag=0 and click on IESG Evaluation Record. That is exactly what happens. We get a "new version" notification.
