Hi, OPS-DIR, Authors, I have reviewed this document as part of the Operational directorate's ongoing effort to review all IETF documents being processed by the IESG. These comments were written with the intent of improving the operational aspects of the IETF drafts. Comments that are not addressed in last call may be included in AD reviews during the IESG review. Document editors and WG chairs should treat these comments just like any other last call comments. This Standards Track document specifies a generic Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) solution which uses VLANs to indicate root or leaf traffic to support Ethernet-Tree (E-Tree) services. This document is well written. I don't see any major issues from the operations and management perspective. It is ready to be published. There are a couple of minor comments below: 1) (minor but must be solved before publish) in the figure 8 and figure 9, VLAN IDs are presented in 2 octets. How the current 12-bit VLAN ID is expanded into 16 bits MUST be clearly defined. Otherwise, implementation may have different choice. It would create interoperation issues. 2) a couple of abbreviations do not have their full name for at least once: BRG, PWid. Best regards, Sheng
