Installing LBA-Linux

Congratulations on choosing LBA-Linux! This document, the LBA-Linux installation guide, will show you how to install LBA-Linux on your computer.

Hardware requirements

LBA-Linux is designed to run on computers (PCs) with processors in the ix86 family. A typical hardware configuration, suitable for an LBA-Linux computer is given below:

A 30 GB hard disk will provide plenty of room for you to expand your LBA-Linux system. At a minimum, however, you will require:
2.0 GB
for a 1-CD installation
3.4 GB
for a 2-CD installation

Overview

So what does it mean to install LBA-Linux? In essence, it means copying the files from the LBA-Linux installation CD to your computer's hard drive. This copying must be done in a particular way, using the LBA-Linux Installation Wizard, a program that prepares your computer to receive LBA-Linux. Because everyone's computer is different, the Installation Wizard needs to gather information about your particular computer so it can get the installation right. For the most part this process happens automatically, but at certain points the Installation Wizard will ask you what to do. This Installation Guide is here to help you make the right choices!

The LBA-Linux Installation CD (or DVD) can also be used to Upgrade an older Linux installation to LBA-Linux.
